Algae is getting bigger on the Florida cost, which could be very bad for the environment. It happens because rain runs of and puts fertilizers into the ocean. What can we do to prevent this?

DeleteIn Florida's coastline, a harmful phytoplankton known as the Red Tide caused a lot problems in the surface water. Tons of dead fish and other animals washed on shore. It started to spread more and more due to the nutrients it's receiving in the surface.

ReplyDeleteFish and other marine animals are dying from harmful red algae. It has killed tons of them whom have washed up on shore. This happens during runoff where things like trash and fertilizer have been brought into the water. Another thing is, not just red algae is harmful any color is too.

red blooms have been strange this year they are longer, shifting seasons, and everyone has contributed to the issue. Red blooms have caused 267 tons of fish including whale sharks, dolphins, manatees, and turtles. Dog poop ,nitrate ,and fertilizers are giving nutrients to energize this problem. Why should we care? Because it can effects humans to causing coughing itchiness and can be dangerous for those with asthma.

ReplyDeleteThe excessive algae in oceans located in Florida is creating a massive problem. This is a state of emergency because literal tons of marine life is being washed up on the shore. Everyone in society holds the responsibility for this problem because the way we pollute the land is being carried by runoff into our oceans. Due to Globing Warming, this occurrence is lasting longer than usual. This is impacting not only the environment and tourism, but health issues, especially people with asthma.
How can society help save the marine life from this harmful algae?
How is this issue impacting our daily lives?
Summary: Florida has been in a state of emergency due the the multiple algae blooms surrounding it. The algae bloom has killed about 267 tons of fish and has affected other ocean life like manatees, dolphins, and turtles. The algae bloom has been caused by the people of Florida, who have been purposefully polluting or just by accident, which is then carried into waterways and the ocean by rain runoff. The Red Tide algae bloom happens normally about once a year, but this specific algae bloom has been continued since December 2017.

DeleteOn the Florida cost algae is getting bigger or staying longer then they should and its bad for the under water environment. This happens because rain runs of and puts fertilizers into the ocean and it spreads. How can we stop this - Jason Williams
ReplyDeleteIn Florida there is a huge problem well a State Emergency in the ocean that is making all the fish and other wild life in the ocean die. There was tons of fish that was put upon the shore. The government spent more than 1 million dollars on cleaning the beach and getting the dead fish off the shore. I heard that it is called Red Tide and it is a toxic type of plankton that is killing the fish. The plankton been in the ocean longer than it suppose to be it say that its been in the water for 2 months and that's a long time for that to be in the ocean. 70% of are oxygen come from plankton.

ReplyDeleteAbout a week ago in Florida a state of emergency was called. 267 tons of marine life is dead and that number continues to grow because of an outbreak of a species of phytoplankton, better known as a red tide. Algae blooms like this are not out of the ordinary at least 1 happens every year but this one however is lasting longer than normal causing not only an unbalance in the ecosystem but upset between Florida locals. Many are calling for legislative action to help regulate the problem. However scientist believe that everyone is to blame, little things like picking up after your dog when taking them out could make a difference. Things like dog poop and fertilizer runoff into the water during the rainy season causing the bacteria in the water to grow rapidly. Hopefully the red tide epidemic ends soon for the animals sake.
ReplyDeleteShould local officials be doing more to help and if so what is something they could do?
What are ways we can raise more awareness about Algae Blooms?

ReplyDeleteRed blooms are a toxic marine species that is in the ocean. This species has been killing the animals that live in the ocean due to the fact that it is taking all the resources that all the fish need to survive. This red bloom started in October and has continued happening ever since. The algae can affect humans to by having a completely healthy man cough or make their eyes itch.
How can we prevent this from continuing any further?
Are we responsible for this?
