There is a giant mountain of trash locations between California and Hawaii. Scientist tried to help. The scientist released a long net to caught the plastic. Other ways is walking on the beach and picking up trash. The best way to prevent trash on the beach is Banning plastic from the beach. Scientists released a 600-meter-long net meant to herd plastic debris from the great Pacific garbage patch into a net. The trash accumulation, which is twice the size of Texas, swirls in waters between California and Hawaii.

  5. The net is a great idea, but it can only pick up so much trash. I think we should focus on stopping plastic from getting into the ocean rather than reducing the trash we have. If we ban plastic on beaches or maybe make people pay fines for littering, then the flow of trash will slow down.

  12. The trash is definitely harmful to people on the beach. All of the bacteria from the trash in the ocean will come up to shore and be embedded in the sand causing sickness and possibly infection for some people. I feel like in some ways I’ve definitely contributed to the trash problem, I believe we all have, but I have cut back and do my best not to. -Brylee

  18. I think this is a huge problem, like maybe the size of Texas big. We need to think of what we are impacting and focus on being smart about our actions. I have seen on hikes through the woods by my house trash on the banks and in the streams. Joe Peck
