Global Warming by Andrew Goldstein

Global Warming by Andrew Goldstein

For awhile now global warming has been observed, but not until in the more recent years has it shown to be a prominent problem within the whole world. The planets average surface temperature has risen nearly 2 degrees in the past century. It’s being caused largely by large amounts of CO2 and by human made emissions, such as pollution from factories. This rise in temperature has caused sea ice to rapidly deteriorate resulting in a raise in water level.

What can you do to help prevent global warming?

Do you think global warming is bad? Why or why not?

Despite the evidence why do people still believe that global warming isn’t occurring?

  1. Many people don't believe global warming is occurring because they are uninformed, they don't experience the effects of global warming on a daily basis, and they notice that winters continue to be harsh. However, the effects of global warming are building up and we'll begin experiencing the effects soon (such as coastal cities submerging due to rising sea levels), unless more people are informed and begin taking a stand against it.

  2. I find it weird that even though we have all of this data about the increasing warmth of Earth, people still aren't believing. But with the way our society is now we only like to see things that are directing effecting us in the moment. I feel like we definitely need to make it more prominent that this will effect people. -Kamilah Gamble

  3. People don't believe in global warming because it is often used as a fear mongering and virtue signaling device. In the 1970's, "global cooling" was the popular end-of-the-world craze. Many predictions of the earth being inhabitable by year "xxxx" have fallen flat, creating a boy cried wolf situation in which people aren't fazed anymore.

The earth is warming, but it had cooled in the past, especially with the ice age, and this is the reason why many aren't quick to hop on this bandwagon. I personally wish that issues weren't politicized like this because that is what leads to misinformation. - Grace Briggs

  4. I think global warming is bad because if the sea level keeps rising, it will harm the ecosystem and there will be a lot of problems such as extinction of some species and extreme climate changes. - Riki Tanaka

  7. I don't think there is something we can do to stop global warming because it seems its too late and everyone isn't really going to contribute to stop it. And everyone participating is the only way it could be effective.

  8. The United States specifically contributes a lot to global warming considering our per capita, we should become much more eco friendly to ensure global warming is lessened so that there is no longer any global warming issues, as so long as we watch what greenhouse gasses we are releasing into the environment, we can ensure that we no longer have this issue. - Mitchell Shabansky

  9. Global warming at this time is almost too severe to reverse, with the average temperature of the planet going up about two degrees. There are many things we could do to prevent global warming, including only using electric cars, less consumption of beef, and receiving electricity from solar panels, but because global warming is so severe at the moment, there is close to nothing we can do. -Tori Favazza

  10. I think global warming is really bad and is really negatively affecting the planet. Because it is warming everything up and eventually its going to get too hot, and theres no way to reverse it.-kaylyn sharp

  11. Global warming is inevitable. But it should also be known that humans are not helping the issue. Our lifestyles have only increased global warming. Global is not necessarily a bad thing. There was the ice age, and now earth is getting warmer and warmer. I believe global warming is a natural ting that cannot be controlled or stopped. There wasn't a way to stop the ice age so I don't think there will be a way for us to stop the earth from boiling. It has become such a huge topic in the media because us humans are speeding the process along and causing our earth to heat up even faster. -Haleigh Madi

  12. I believe that global warming is very bad because it's destroying wildlife's ecosystems, and it is drastically causing sea ice to melt which is raising the oceans water level. This will further impact our society as a whole and eventually make coastal cities uninhabitable. We need to stop emitting so many greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and just polluting the air in general because it's hurting our environment. _Andrew
