Up In Smoke - Grace Briggs
Hundreds of people are getting injured due to vaping. Previously healthy people are hospitalized with marred breathing due to vaping.
The devices are modifiable and it will be very hard to figure out the exact effects of vaping. People can change things like the heating process, which affects how the chemicals change.
Since the user can change the product like this, it leaves a lot of things unknown and untested.
12 people and counting have died because of lung disease and cancers from vaping. The numbers of injury incidents have risen from 530-805 in the last week.
The Food and Drug Administration is contemplating banning vaping. Vaping companies have colourful and attractive flavours that lead young adults and children into the trap of nicotine addiction. Many people have been severely burned from vaping devices exploding in their mouths or pockets.
Should we ban vaping? Why?
Do you think vaping companies are trying to attract children and young adults with bright and childish flavouring and colouring?
What are your thoughts on the mysteriousness of the illnesses? The fact that long-term effects are unknown?
Are you okay with people basically being test subjects? Is there anything you can do?
We should not ban vaping because it will be most effective for people to stop on their own and see how bad it is. If we ban vaping we may myrtyrize it, and as teens and young adults already constantly break the law, they will illegally use vaping devices to fuel their addiction. But with brands like "N Joy", that put glass shards into their devices to cut the throats of the user in order to spread the nicotine, perhaps in a court of law a strong argument can be made other than the obvious evils on our minds and bodies we know that vaping and smoking has.
ReplyDeleteI think that vaping companies know that they are attracting the youth, not all, of course, but it's very clear to me. Vaping appeals to the childish immediate satisfaction, an aesthetic and showing trait of teens and young adults. Vaping is done to seem cool and often to do tricks, but then the user gets addicted. I think that vaping companies know their effect.

This is amazing to read because so many people vape and don't know the consequences from it besides the legal consequences and not the health problems.-Connor Ortmann
ReplyDeletei don't think vaping should be ban however i do think it should be harder to get your hands on it because it's easier for young teens to get there hands on them.-Taj Mckinney
ReplyDeleteI do think companies are trying to Target kids a little... But at the same time adults don't like the taste of cigarettes they're gonna want something better and vaping allows for that

Deletethe company juul is actually owned by marlboro so the court cases againt juul and all of those companies should also be targetting the cigarette companies. i also dont understand why this is just now being a huge deal. when our parents were in highschool they were smoking cigarettes, which according to literally everyone is worse than vaping. the legal age to buy vaping products is 18 and i think thats how it should be continued. i dont think it should be banned and all of that because although people are suffering the consequences of vaping, they chose to start doing it themselves as adults. -Molly McAuley
ReplyDeleteSomking is a huge deal in todays youth. We need to to take heavy actions about it. Also it is targeting younger kids with bright colors nice smells. - Anushka
ReplyDeleteI think it's ok that people are test subjects because they will give us the most accurate results and it's not like rats are vaping. - Shannon Easley
ReplyDeleteVaping should be banned because it causes harm to young people's body, and many kids are educated about the risks of vapes. -Sawyer L
ReplyDeleteVaping should be banned for all ages now -Brooke phelan
ReplyDeleteI do agree that vaping has harmful effects on peoples, but I don't think it should be banned because it is still legal to smoke or drink alcohol which is also harmful to people. I think we have to warn children that vaping has harmful effects in school.

DeleteI don't think we should be banning vaping after maybe a couple hundred deaths, smoking causes millions of deaths a year and its still not banned yet.
ReplyDeleteI think the vaping companies are trying to get young kids and teens to vape so they can make more money. But there should be laws that saw these companies can't sell these products or make them attractive to kids and teens. -Kamilah Gamble
