Evolution

Vani Inestroza

Evolution is the change in the characteristics of a species over several generations and relies on the process of natural selection, in other words change over time. Charles Darwin theory of evolution states that evolution happens by natural selection. Natural Selection is the process that results in the adaptation of an organism to its environment which is the selective reproducing changes in its genotype. I’ve always found evolution to be interesting and to see how drastically things change over time. When you see examples of theories on species, seeing them now vs then, very unexpected, eye opening and can makes you curious.

Is evolution actually real?

If so, is there a possibilty of it taking place again?

What did people think when they first heard about evolution?

  1. Personally, I think evolution is real because when you see all of the species that have adapted to changes and their characteristics have changed over time and compare it, you can see what natural selection has played into.

  2. I think, in regards to our own personal evolution, that has been suspended by our ability as a species to create advanced technology and help our species survive. As natural selection is not a concern of our species, our evolution has been halted.

  3. The answer to if evolution is real is simple if you think of evolution as subtler changes across a species over time. The answer is yes, and can be seen in most easily in fruit flies. They reproduce very quickly, so it's possible to see hundreds or thousands of generations in the span of a few years. Scientists are able to accurately map the progress of evolution within each generation, and are thus able to apply to other creatures, such as human beings.

  4. My opinion on evolution is that it is real no matter if its dealing with humans, certain species, etc. I feel that us people can learn a lot from evolution if we just took out the time and see the facts instead of insert are opinions. I also believe that it should be mentioned in our schooling because I feel that it is apart of science.

  5. I think evolution is definitely real and it's happening constantly. It's difficult to see changes in humans because they happen so slowly due to a slow reproduction rate, but in animals that give birth quickly it's easy to see that change occurs. Even bacteria evolves so there's no reason not to think that humans/animals do too.

  6. I find the evolution theory very interesting how humans look similar to some animals but I can't quite agree that's what actually happened because for me it just doesn't make enough sense that we came from other species at first.

  7. I think that evolution is real but can interpreted in a different way, even if you are religious. It's all about perspective and what you believe.

  8. I feel that evolution can easily get mixed up with the term adaptation, because when you look for evidence of evolution we easily point to the Darwin finches example where he believed that due to their surroundings, the Finches evolved into a different species in order to survive when simply that is just not the case. The birds were still finches when they "evolved" so that just concludes the possibility of adaptation; a change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment. Meaning the birds changed their niche in order to survive, not a different species.

  9. I think evolution is a real thing. It all depends to me on religion, if your religion believes in it then I think it could happen again.

  10. when I first heard about evolution, that humans were monkeys before I dint believed but then when I studied it briefly then I believed it that yes evolution is true.

  11. I do not think evolution will take place for humans again because we already have evolved to have everything we need to survive. -maddie hoffmeyer

  12. I think that evolution is real because it explains so much about our origins and where some species came from. It also describes how species and their structure are capable of changing. We also have had studies that show how evolution works, and from that we can explain how species adapt to new environments and circumstances.
